March 17, 2010 – In keeping with our mission to advance regenerative social, ecological and business practices that enable Earth to thrive, we are always looking for the best ways to offer our services. We recently completed a thorough business plan to analyze what it would take to remain viable as Conexions, and determined that to continue in our current structure is unsustainable. Even with the generous support of our donors and new assertive fundraising efforts, the forecast for continuing in our current form did not look promising. We have therefore decided to close Conexions by June 30, 2010.
However, we are still committed to continue offering the programs that serve our community so well and are in the midst of discovering exciting new ways to do so. As examples, we will still offer our popular Edible Landscaping Tour through Common Ground, and Exploring a Sense of Place will continue to mentor people and groups in reconnecting to the natural world where they live assisted by the Exploring a Sense of Place guidebook and training workshops. Likewise, Green Drinks will continue. Our other projects and programs are making plans to be adopted by, or obtain fiscal sponsorship through, other non-profit organizations. This will help strengthen the other non-profits’ portfolios of services, while containing the costs of offering those services. We will keep you updated on the details as these plans firm up.
On May 27th from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, we will be celebrating the accomplishments of Conexions and the evolution from our current structure, and sharing the most up-to-date news about our projects. We would love to have you join us, so please save the date!
We appreciate all the support we have received from you, and invite you to continue to stay involved as we evolve into new, more viable entities. If you have become a member recently or are part of our pledge program, we will be contacting you in a separate communication.
With gratitude,
Susan Stansbury
