The Midtown Garden, located in Palo Alto, is a community oasis behind the Midtown shopping area. In addition to providing a place for local people to grow their own food, it is a pleasant place for neighbors to walk through and get respite from the surrounding built environment. The land is leased for a small amount from a private landowner, and Conexions' Green Fork project manages it as a model of urban agriculture. Currently the gardeners are focusing on innovative ways to reduce water usage using permaculture techniques.
